Danger Squad
From The Stool Pigeon, Nov '10.
There is a perfectly sane and reasonable explanation for this story.

Surf's Up
From The Stool Pigeon, Sept '10.
A cautionary ecological fable, featuring those environmental warriors, The Beach Boys.
Check out their album 'Surf's Up' for tracks like 'Don't Go Near The Water', about the pollution of the ocean, and 'Take A Load Off Your Feet' about taking care of your feet, ie. rubbing avocado cream into your toes and avoiding shards of glass on the beach.
It's also got 'Feel Flows' on it, which is the BOMB.
Anyway...with this story I tried to capture a little of the spirit of those old E.C. horror comics from the 50's, with characters like The Cryptkeeper, who would introduce the story and show up again at the end to cackle and deliver a bad pun. Here's an example;
The last panel on page 1 of 'Surf's Up' is a homage/rip off of this great movie poster, from what is probably a really crappy film. I'd still watch it, though.
B&W Page 1;
Doctor Cave M.D. (No.3)
My third Doctor Cave story, featuring the first glimpses of the Cavemobile and The Cheese Factory Hillbillies.
This one was inspired by Nick Cave's increasingly sex-obsessed output (his 'Bunny Monroe' novel, 'No Pussy Blues' etc.). I figured a man with that much spare sperm could probably start his own cheese factory. I know I did.
I've also included the B&W art, if anyone's interested in seeing what it looks like before I colour it in Photoshop. I went a bit mad with the pointillism on this one...it looks cool, but it takes waaaay too long for a comic strip which people read in about a minute.

My apologies to the late Ron Asheton, guitar god.
I got the dumb idea for this sickening story after watching 2 different tv interviews of Iggy - one as James Osterburg , the mild mannered golfer, and another where he was in character as Iggy the wrinkly hellraiser. I figured he obviously must have a switch somewhere to alternate between the 2 characters. Add a few penis faced children and a bucket of pus, and voila!
Originally the sequence with the hand going into the pocket was to be stretched out to about 10 panels, with the hand (in slow motion) going into the pocket, out of the pocket and slowly reaching out, accompanied by detailed descriptions of the movements of the fingers and the hairs on the back of the hand. Maybe it's a good thing I only get 2 pages to express myself.

Oodles of doodles, including my my first character design for Doctor Cave, which, in retrospect, maybe I should have stuck with.
This gentleman is the rather portly singer of a band called Fucked Up.
Pencils for a cd sleeve design. I ran out of steam before I could ink it, but often my pencils look nicer than the inked stuff anyway...

Unfinished flyer design.
Pictures of people. Practising my brushwork, innit.
Wow..those caricatures are spot on.
